How To, Cupcake and Cereal Treats Version, March 20115
I showed this piece again, this time making the most lurid cupcakes I could imagine. My friend Kate helped me decorate them. I also made marshmallow treats out of mixed lurid cereals. Cereals used were Spongebob Squarepants, Cap'n Crunch, Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms and Fruity Pebbles with Pop Rocks "boulders" in them. If I show this piece again it may not involve food. It's difficult to get gallery-goers to eat the art. Most of them require quite a bit of convincing.
How To React When Nothing Makes Sense, September/October 2014
Inspired largely by T Major's "44 Best Bodyweight Exercises Ever" video, I learned to make eclairs from scratch (I'd made meringues before). I figured if he could spend his precious time perfecting Superman Pushups I might as well spend mine making delicious pastries and giving them to unsuspecting people. Why not? They both make about the same amount of sense as anything else in this life.
Rayon fabric, iron-on lettering, sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla bean, heavy cream, chocolate, cream of tartar, butter, glass plate, wooden stool.
